Wonogiri (July 23, 2026) — PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) continues to improve people’s quality of life through sustainability programs that have a broad impact on the community. This effort is demonstrated by the company’s support for organic waste management education for SPPG operators throughout Wonogiri Regency, Central Java. The event took place at MPP Nyawiji, Wonogiri, on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
According to the Wonogiri Regency National Nutrition Agency (BGN), there are more than 24,000 SPPGs operating to serve the community.
The operational activities of these SPPGs generate a large amount of organic waste. If not managed properly, these activities could contribute to an increasingly uncontrollable waste problem.
“We need to minimize all risks arising from the MBG program,” explained Wonogiri Regency Secretary FX Pranata.
On the same occasion, Bahari, Head of the Wonogiri Regency Department of Environment, Housing, and Settlement Areas, urged SPPGs to manage their waste generation.
“We are encouraging SPPG to manage the waste it generates. This waste is processed and repurposed to create greater value,” explained Bahari.
Speaking on behalf of Kalbe, SFD Corporate Sustainability Assistant Manager Arie Wibowo explained that the organic waste generated from SPPG’s MBG food production activities can be processed into various byproducts that not only reduce unmanaged waste but also boost the local economy.
“Kalbe, together with local residents, has developed an environmentally friendly waste processing facility using maggots in Watuagung Village, Baturetno Subdistrict. This facility has produced a number of byproducts, such as animal feed and fertilizer. Hopefully, this can serve as an idea for SPPG managers looking to manage their waste,” explained Arie.
On this occasion, Arie also invited participants to visit Kalbe’s waste processing facility. “We welcome anyone who wishes to learn at Kalbe’s waste processing facility, located in Sendang Hamlet, Watuagung Village, Baturetno,” added Arie.
Meanwhile, Kalbe’s Head of Corporate Sustainability, Abi Nisaka, cited this program as a practical example of waste management that benefits the community.
“Kalbe’s contributions to the environment demonstrate the company’s strong commitment to the environment and to a better quality of life,” explained Abi.
